IUPA Uechi Ryu: A brief introduction into the nature and purpose of softwork drills.

This is a brief introduction to the Softwork drills I have posted.  It explains the purpose of Softwork which is to teach principles and skill sets therefore the level of resistance is low because it is under a learning umbrella. However, eventually Softwork must move into Hardwork where there is increased resistance until the partner you are working with is resisting with everything they have.

IUPA Uechi Ryu Going from Oh Crap to Okay Drill Step One

This drill is a series of twelve steps that intend to instruct the student on knowing how survive the instant of an assault and get to the act of survival. As with all drills there are inherent falsehoods and this drill works through a series of preparation movements to get to the final intent.

IUPA Uechi Ryu Destruction of Structure Drill and Video Clips

This is a series of drills that intend to instruct the student on knowing how the body moves and how to break down the structure. As with all drills there are inherent falsehoods and this drills certainly works from a base that appears very non-fighting but look closely at what the intended teaching is.
